Another jam packed weekend

And its monday morning again.  Where did the time go since I last blogged…  Back to Friday.  Slept all day due to nocturnal horrors at work, then went into panic mode pre ball.  Thankfully Alasdair was there to sort out the venue so I could concentrating on remembering everything I needed to bring and getting beautiful.  The ball was a massive success, and a fun time was had by all.  I was particularly chuffed to get compliments on my skirt (someone said it was a lovely cut!) which is cool as I made it myself last year, and took it in a significant amount this year.

We raised lots for charity, over £500 I think and drank lots of wine.  I managed to discover that one of the docs was wearing pants under his kilt and the other kilted man wasn’t.  I smoked a cigar and a cigarette, which I know was VERY NAUGHTY and I’m not intending to do it again.  Due to the nocuturnal horridness and the daytime sleeping it meant I was drinking when I hadn’t eaten for 24 hours.  And it was bubbly wine.  Liz became quite drunk quite fast, and felt very ill the next day.  Aliasdair bought me two bunches of flowers for my part in the arrangements (and I hadn’t got him anything which made me feel quite guilty!) and I gave one bunch to his girlfriend as I thought she deserved them!

Saturday morning was painful.  I didn’t feel that well, so Andrew kindly drove me to fatclub.  I put on a pound which was ok as I’d done nights and was filled with wine.  Then I felt a little better so Paula and I shopped.  We both bought shoes for the wedding (although I could take mine home, Paula had to order and pay for hers which seemed a little harsh) and I bought some underwear too, which was a big hassle as I didn’t know what size to get and everything I tried on in M&S was too small.  I think my boobs are taking over the world.  Sorry if that lingerie talk upsets you, I’ve stopped now.

Saturday night we went to Tatton Park with Nick and Emma (Andrew’s friends, who are rather nice!) to see the Halle and watch fireworks.  It hadn’t rained for two weeks, so of course we were drowned in a torrent.  But we had come prepared so the wetness was limited.  We had enough picnic for a small army, but it was great!  The concert was ok.  I was a little disappointed as there were so many people and I couldn’t see, but the fireworks were pretty and I love them!  We had Champagne and wine.  Mmmmm.

Sunday I was a little hungover again.  Oops.  And there was a lot to do.  Andrew was hosting a bbq for his Rotoract friends, so we had to clean and prepare.  The bbq went well and his house is still clean so its all good.  Cass came round and kept me company while the others were meeting and talking (boring stuff to me!) and it was good to have a natter.

Talking of cleaning, I appear to have employed a cleaner. She’s doing her stuff now, so I’m trying to keep out of the way!

Bunny Boiler

I seem to be talking quite a lot about Beryl recently.  I hope you don’t mind.

It muct be rather hot for her in this warm weather, with her thick fluffy coat and all.  She sits in the shade and seems quite content, mostly.  Until Andrew arrives.

Beryl has taken a dislike to Andrew.  She’s started growling at him and throwing herself at his legs when he walks in the yard.  I think she might be jealous, or maybe just crazy.

I’ve bought her a salt lick (chosen because it claims to give her hours of stimlutation!) and other fruity things which she’s not discovered.  She has discovered that she can squeeze into my upturned bbq.  Its all very cute.  She gets in a hole about 4cms across and then you can see her fluffy bits sticking out of the vents in the bbq.  Then she gets bored so comes out and has a black back and nose.  Bless!

To try and cheer the fluffy one up a bit I’m spending more time with her and giving her lots of affection.  May get Andrew to spend time with her without me (but that could endanger his life if Bezza is really grumpy).  Not sure what else to do…

Sad pizza

This makes me sad.

This also makes me sad.

Generally though I’m quite happy.  I’ve had lots of sleep (for the first time this week, damn night shifts) and last night I had a leaving picnic with the nurses.  It was yummy, we had homemade pizza and melon and cheesecake and minicheddars.

Grump

My spam filter has gone bonkers.  It blocked Rhiannon commenting yesterday and now its blocking me!  The cheek of it. And I’ve played with my settings and switched the spaminator off and its still not playing, Grump, grump GRUMP.

I’ve made a lasagne this morning. Its not the best, I had white sauce issues. Its lumpy and didn’t thicken properly.  And its too big for ym vessel so I’m sure it’ll escape in the oven.  I’ve also made two cheesecakes.  One big one for work and one little one for Andrew.  Andrew’s is in a jam jar as that’s the only almost suitable vessel I could find.

My mobile phone appears to be broken. Well its not totally defunct, but its certainly not playing fair.  It loses reception all the time unless you hold it in a certain way.  Boo.  And its only 4 months into a 18 month contract and not insured.  I’m sure they’ll say its cos I’ve dropped it, which is probably true and it keeps falling out of my pocket at work.  Boo. I’m rubbish.

Time to play with the seating plan for the ball.  These things are a nightmare.  I’d like to put all the stinky people on one table together, but don’t think I can.  Time to scratch my chin and ponder….

The short of it

Gosh my posts have been long lately.

But not today. I have very little to say as I’m working nights.

Please tell me an interesting fact to cheer me up.  Thanks.

Giving up

Bleugh. I don’t like hangovers.  I feel rubbish. Too much red wine. But it was wonderful. Today I haven’t even managed to get dressed. I got up at 11am, and have been back to bed between 2.30 and 4pm.  Oops. And I’ve put 6 cases into my work logbook, still leaving over 50 to do.  And I’ve not written my presentation for this week either.  But at least I’m now almost feeling human enough to face a night shift, almost.  I’ve given up on the paperwork for today, will try again tomorrow, if the night is reasonable.  But I’ve also got lots to do tomorrow, including going to meet the masons and drop off the 50 bottles of wine I had the pleasure of buying on Saturday for the ball.  But the silly place isn’t open at any reasonable times (is only open from 11-4) so I’m not sure how that’ll fit in with my planned sleeping. Pah!

So, back to Saturday.  I bought 54 bottles of wine (12 cava, 18 pino grigio, 18 merlot and a mixed 6 for me) from Clare’s work.  She knows lots and lots about wine and drives a van!  I also collected my Bridesmaid frock from Paula and inherited some more clothes.  I love recieving second hand clothes, it seems years since I bought many clothes.  Am very excited about the impending wedding, but will save that for later.  Saturday night was lovely too.  Clare’s boyf Mark came over from Leeds and we had dinner then went to the cinema.   We saw ‘Pirates of the Carribean 2: dead man’s chest’.  We were a bit late, but decided it’d be ok.  But the showing was quite full and it was very dark so finding our seats was rather comical.  The seats were numbered in a very counterintuative manner (number one at the right of the row and number 22 at the left as you looked at it) so we all went to the wrong seats and ended up disturbing lots of people!  And then Andrew threw half of the popcorn on the floor, which ended up under Clare’s seat and caused her much confusion.  Quick review of the film.  I loved it.  Stupid but very enjoyable.  About half an hour too long, but beautifully filmed with good acting.  Can’t wait for number three.

Saturday seemed to last a long time.  Sunday was busy too.  My brother and his wife have moved home from China, so we all assembled in her parents home in Lymm.  Assembled were Kristie Mum and Dad, Kristie sister, Kristie and Gordon, My Mum, Andrew and Me!  We sat in the garden and made the most of the weather and had yummy food and champagne.  Then we had a wander to a rugby pitch and played some frizbee.  It was fun but a little tricky as I was in a frock and didn’t want to flash at the assembled throng.  But I kept my modesty.  Kristie’s sister is a gymnast and decided that she wanted to use the rugby post as a bar to swing round, so she climbed on her dad’s shoulders and gave it a go!  She didn’t managed to do what she wanted to, but it was impressive nevertheless!

Then it was onto dinnerparty number 2.  We went to Paula and Patrick’s flat for wine tasting and food. Hence the hangover.

Naughty Bunny

I am very angry with my pet rabbit.  Beryl is a naughty girl.  She has taken to eating my house.  Now I know that people sometimes say their children eat them out of house and home, well, Bezza is literally eating my home.  She’s nibbled the back door in a lot of places and today I had to shout at her and chase her around the yard to stop her pulling the paint off my wall and nibbling the bricks.  Boo to her.  I’ver threatened her with being trapped in her cage again.  And before you all say she needs a chewing stick well, there’s pleanty of other wood and bits of old kitchen that she could totally eat if she desired and I wouldn’t care.  But I am slightly more protective of my bricks and mortar.

Andy was rather surprised last night that Beryl wasn’t in her cage.  He’d not been here for a while.  I kidnapped him, rather than him leaving the pub early to get the train-bus home.  I also had Alison and Andrew staying so it was a full house.  Clare got a shock when she got up for work this morning to find sleeping people in my lounge.

Last night was ace!  Alsion is back for the weekend, so curry was had.  We went to Pink Garlic.  Quick review.   Wonderful food.  Cheap.  Very helpful and pleasant staff, but don’t have a dining room that big if you can’t cope.  And it was oh so hot too.  Then we all went to Hardy’s and chatted.  Mahinda was there, as was Rich and Jimby and I’d not seen them for ages.

Also yesterday I went to the gym and had a nap.  Both excellent things to do, especially as I got a sneaky afternoon off work. Woo.

It was fat club this morning.  I was expecting a total disaster, but it was ok. I lost half a pound.  Then we met Andy and Cass for coffee which was nice.  Jo (fat club weigher person) seemed pleased to see Alison, but it was quite busy.  We have a new fat culb friend called Sarah (who isn’t really that fat! but still wants to lose weight!) and she has a baby. So I get to hold the 17 week cute baby while Sarah weighs.  I’m quite broody…  But I’m not having a baby for quite a while, as I’ve got a naughty bunny to look after!

I love rice

Rice rocks.  Its my favourite carbohydrate.  I made a wonderful rissotto this evening and have left overs for lunch tomorrow too. Woo.

I went to the gym today.  It was hot.  I sweated lots and lots.  Not very ladylike, but that’s me!

We’ve finalised numbers for the ball, and have secured some sponsorship too.  So now I’m getting excited about it. I’m planning how I’m going to decorate the tables and the room.  Balloons and flowers I think. With maybe some sparkle…

My diet coke detox is failing badly.  I know I’m naughty, but I just like it too much.  Maybe I should get hypnotised….

This post is quite disjointed.

I’ve uploaded some photos to truprint.  If you want to see them email me and I’ll tell you the secret code.  I’ve probably emailed some of you with the magic words anyway.

Finishing for the summer holiday

Choir that is, sadly not me.  I would just love six weeks off right now.  There are two more choir rehearsals before the holiday begins, but i can’t do either because of work.

I had to do my doctoring bit at choir.  About twenty minutes from the end I was beconed out to go downstairs to the vocal coaching room where someone had feinted.  The combination of heat, dehydration, lack of food and singing proved too much and one soprano was on the floor. I didn’t really do much except reassure and stick her legs in the air.  Poor thing was rather embarrased, but was ok in the end.

I went to Asda and bought lots of things.  Including many many chocolate biscuits. I’m sure people were looking at me strangely, with my low fat cottage cheese, heaps of veg and skimmed milk and then about 10000 chocolate bisucits in my trolley. I suspect that it must have looked like  I was suffering from buliema or something.   But they’re not for me. As I’m moving jobs soon, its presents for those I work with.  And then I was chatted up by the spotty boy on the checkout. Ok, so he wasn’t quite a boy, looked about 20, but that’s too young for me.  Instead of asking me to put my PIN in the machine he asked me to put my phone number in….  I ignored it, as I think it was just a slip of the tongue.  But its always nice to be chatted up, or to even think you’ve being chatted up!

I guess you’re all having problems sleeping in this heat. I did last night.  But then I remembered that I managed to sleep when I lived in Samoa, so I just pretended in my head I was there.  I’d much rather be there, but my bed here is certainly more comfy than the piece of foam I slept on there.  I think its cooler tonight, despite having been a hotter day today.

Hot stuff

As I’m sure you’ve all noticed its quite hot at the moment.  I like it, although it does make me feel quite lethargic.  Thankfully where I work is mostly air-conditioned (to an extent).

Yesterday I wasn’t in an air conditioned place and I was dressed up smart. I was at Andrews Nan’s funeral.  It went well, all things considered. And I felt appropriatly dressed in my non black outift.  They had managed to double book the crem, which was a bit unfortunate, but worked out ok in the end.

In the evening we went to the big tent in Platt Fields to see circus Ronaldo.  It was ace! I laughed lots at the amazing acrobatics, plate spinning, pizza throwing and balancing.  The benches weren’t great to sit on, but the atmosphere was lovely and it was a great night.

And now I’m drinking cider and am about to go to bed.  I’ve played with my template (ooh-eer!) and I’m not sure I like this one. And there seems to be no link to click to log in. And I know my HTML isn’t clever enough to make one. Anyway, I’m logged in so it should be ok (fingers crossed!).  Thoughts anybody?
