Five people, ten pins, lots of fun.

We went bowling tonight. (We being myself, Mahinda, Steve, Kate and Ant). I’d booked for seven. I don’t like having to pay upfront. Why can’t we just pay a deposit? Rubbish!  And for various reasons there were only the five of us. I spoke to the man in charge and he wouldn’t give us any refund, so we considered having the second lane just to be akward. But then I saw a couple walk in.

As I have no shame and didn’t want to waste twenty quid I spoke to them about the situation and highlighted the fact that the lanes were ready and they didn’t have to wait. So the nice people that they were pretended to be my friends and had their own lane. Hurrah!

We made the bowling order according to height. Mahinda had the edge, followed by Kate, Steve, Me then Ant.  We played two games and much fun was had by all. Especially during the second game when a girl in a minidress and leggings was bowling in the next lane. She looked a little like she’d forgotten her trousers and flashed her pants a few times when she bowled! (she was quite pretty!).

Other activities this weekend. Hat museam (good, would recommend to anyone who has a spare hour in Stockport). Frog and Bucket with nurses from old school. (excellent, much gossip and good comedy). Fat club (satisfactory, stayed the same). Form filling (shite. really frustrating). House/engagement party with fireworks (I love fireworks). Naps (always a good thing).

This forthcoming week holds a lot of things although none of them that exciting I fear.

Flaming Boobs!

Sorry for not writing more. I have been busy and on many adventure. The new car is going very well. The trip computer is exciting and makes me happy! I want to go on a long journey soon to try it out properly.

Tuesday was a ladies sectional rehearsal. There were three new members and as alto rep I had to look after them as the choral admin girl wasn’t there. I had power as I made the announcement! Wheeee.  We’re singing Mozart’s Mass in C minor and its ace!

Flight tickets for holiday arrived. They’re so stupid as they put Debbie and Me down as Mr. I phoned the bloke to shout at them and he could see my issue ("so that’s Mr Debbie M. and Mr Elizabeth T…") but it took ages to get sorted out. They’ve promised to send new tickets, not sure if I believe them!

Wednesday I worked the 12-12 shift. It was good as I gave some more anaesthetics on my own. I like giving anaesthetics, especially when it all goes well and the patients wake up nicely and pain free. I hope I get a job with this MMC thing (and hope even more that its one in the North West as I really don’t want to have to move from Manchester), this weekend I will mostly be filling in the stupid form (and that’s going to take ages, as I showed my inital efforts to a consultant today who said it was kinda the right thing but needed lots of improvement. Sigh.)

It was also Andrew’s birthday on Wednesday. He’d been dancing so came round to mine after that and I met him after work. I gave present (cool stacking salt, balsamic vinegar and oil bottles) and card (handmade by me with love!) and it then was sleepy time. Thursday I went to the hairdresser, but will tell you about that another time as I’m sure  I’ll be going back there. Thursday evening I took Andrew out for dinner (to That Cafe, in Levenshulme, just round the corner from ChezLiz). The food was lovely and the wine was good too. And we discovered raspberry Gin and it was amazing (but not quite so amazing this morning when I had to work and almost had to vomit). I’ll go back to That Cafe (and if you go monday to thursday and order before 7pm you can have two courses for 14 quid! Bargain!). On Thursday I gave Andrew his real present, an ipod. I think he loved the ipod more than he loves me….

And tonight, while cooking in my dressing gown, I noticed that my boobs were on fire!!! Then the flames spread down my arm! I beat myself and took the offending article off and stepped away from the gas hob and thankfully all was ok. Rather scary!

Everybody’s hiding

There’s nobody out there.

Alsion is in America, Mahinda is snowed under with work, as is Jocelyn I think. Rhiannon is in plaster.

Most* of my blogging friends are not blogging.

I’m missing them.

I’m applying for jobs at the moment. There is a two week window for all junior doctors in the country to apply. The website crashed six times this morning before I could even copy and paste the form into word so I can plan what I’m saying. I dislike the form immensely as there is no section to say what you do outside medicine. And as most of my achievements are outside medicine (cos I have a life, which I would argue makes me a better doctor). This is all because the government is Messingup Medical Careers (or Modernising Medical Careers as they like to call it). The form is totally anonoymised before being ‘marked’ for shortlisting which is not good either, as consultants want to work with junoirs they know are good and juniors don’t want to have to move to the other end of the country or compete against people who really want to be working somewhere else. Sigh. Its a big fat mess. I better get on with filling in the stupid form though as its the only way to get a job, or at least try (that’s another sticking point as hundreds of jobs have disappeared so its quite likely I’ll end up on the dole).

Is this me?

Having just worked a night shift I’ve taken a personality test to check I still have one.

Do you agree with the results? Personally I don’t care at the moment as all I want to do is go to bed, but have to go to fat club first.

Nothing to do with sweeping up. I paid for my new car today. I was going to get a Mazda purely cos then I could have gone zoom zoom zoom, but I plumped for a skoda instead.  I’ve ended up getting a saloon. I was going to get a nice hatchback but the saloon was too much of a bargain for me to resist.  I can pick it up on friday. My new insurance is sorted and fingers crossed everything will be ok. I even bought new hubcaps today, from Halfords for a fiver! Bargain. They are not silver and not quite black (possibly the most hideous hubcaps I’ve ever seen actually) but they were cheap and that’s the main thing. I want friday now.

Yesterday I got confused that it was Andrew’s birthday. Well, I knew it wasn’t but was slightly concerned when two people asked me if it was. That reminds me, must book a resturant for the birthday meal and maybe buy a present, but I am totally broke. (I would tell you about all my plans but I know the boy reads this so I’ll have to keep my secrets.)

Water water everywhere..

I have a suspicion that I may need to get a new bathroom. Grrrr. The water problem appears to be much bigger than first* estimated. I would much prefer to just cover it up, but not sure that’d be possible.  Good job I saved money on the new car.

Last night we played a prank at work. No, not on any patients, on the doctor who was doing the night shift who had been skiing for a week.  We all put on surgical masks and when she arrived I ushered her into the sideroom and said that we had pandemic flu on the unit and precautions were necessary. I asked if she’d had a flu job and if there were any reportes outside. It was quite hard staying serious and I felt totally ridicuolous with my mask on, but she fell for it and looked really really concerned. But then I caved in and told her it wa a prank. Much hilarity was had by all. Suspect I’ll be the one being wound up next time though.

Time for work. 12 hours. Booo.

Supermarket Sweep

I was working till midnight last night. And I was grumpy. Realised that I’ll probably be doing shifts for the rest of my life if I want to be an anaethetist (I hate shifts they really suck) and a relative said I was rude, which pissed me off, as I was actually saving a life (of his loved one) and he was not the priority, which made me think that perhaps another career would be better than my current one.  Ok, so I’ve not explained the situation very well and it is probably coming across as actually having been rude, but as all these things complicated and I’m not going into it here so you’ll just have to take my word for it that I did nothing wrong. And I even appologised for it (cos it was the best and easiest thing to do). Anyway, it made me very annoyed as you can probably tell.

So I thought a midnight trip to Tesco would be a good thing to do. It was a bit of an assult course. The did have good music on loudly which was nice, but the shelf stackers seemed to want to stack everything on the floor and not the shelves which made navigating around with my trolley a nightmare. And then the only tills that were open were the scan yourself* ones. I love these tils when I have 10 items of less, but when I’ve got an entire trolley full of shopping it is rather a chore. It took forever to unpack, scan, put on conveyor belt, take off belt, rescan as machine went a bit odd, put back on belt then do the next item. And then I had to bag it all, boo. Anyway I got a packet of chocolate hob-nobs for free as they were left by someone.

I’m going to stop ranting now. I think I’m actually really grumpy today. Good job I’m all alone in my house. Time to make lasagne.

*I would quite like to scan myself and not the items that I purchased, but sadly that is not the case.

Why, oh why?

Why on earth would anyone want to steal two of my old, scratched, filthy hub caps?

I think it happened last night, in my street. My next door neighbour lost two of hers sometime last year and another car is missing two. Couldn’t they be bothered to take all four?!?!

I’ve taken the other two off and put them in my boot so I only have to get two from a scrapyard. I might try ebay (see if I can buy my own hubcaps back, its like a modern day protection racket!!!). Sigh.  I wouldn’t be that bothered but I want to sell my car soon.

Grump grump grump.

Cheers!

Thank you for the comments. I’m happy now. I’m also happy as I have a nice glass of wine and am watching a very good film.  And I don’t have to go to work tomorrow (although I have heaps of boring stuff involving statistics to do), another reason to add to the happy list. Oohh! That’s inspired me to make a happy list…..

Things that make me happy tonight…

  • Nice glass of wine and good film as mentioned above
  • Prospect of seeing Mother and Godparents on Sunday
  • Prospect of seeing Debbie’s new house tomorrow
  • A lie in
  • Being me!
  • Having ace friends
  • Having had an ok weekend at work
  • Having an Andrew
  • My new ipod cover
That’s enough happy things for now. I hope you’re all happy too. Happy is good!
