Protection factor

My local park (highfield) is now a protected habitat for many animal species according to the BBC. I think they call it a country park as its quite a wilderness, but it is rather nice.

Moving forward

The carpet arrived as did the estate agents. And amazingly they all said the same price. My house is clean and tidy and uncluttered, its amazing! I have got things hidden in many places including the boot of my car, but the house needs to look good.

I’ve just had the man round to measure and take pictures. Hopefully it’ll look nice and people will want to buy it. Soon, tomorrow maybe or by the weekend at least it’ll be on the internet.

I’m a bit unsetttled at the moment. I could go into things but its nothing interesting really, I expect being on nights has a large part to do with it.

A carpet and three estate agents….

…. are coming to my house tomorrow, hopefully in the right order and not all at the same time. It is an exciting and scary day.  Its also scary cos I’m working nights in a department which I’m really junior, but it should be ok (fingers crossed).

I have lots of cleaning and tidying to do. I’ve just painted random bits of my living room. I hope it dries ok otherwise it’ll look really odd (crosses fingers again, but not as much as she did for work).  I’ve also got to hide a bicycle and to find a storage place for about 15 tonnes of stuff. Its likely to be shared between 1) underneath my bed 2) in my car and 3) in my wardrobe.  I wouldn’t be that bothered but most of it isn’t my stuff. Pah.

I’m getting a bit excited and overwhelmed and ahead of myself with the house selling thing. I’m in my own little world convinced my house will sell fast despite the current market. Am I delusional? Probably. Anyway today I made a list of the companies and agencies I’d have to contact to let them know my new address. That is slightly premature really, and I’m not even sure what my new address will be. Probably Andrew’s house for a while, but then it could change again. So I might put mum’s house down. Who knows.

Anyway, that’s enough of my future plans. Back to reality.  Since the decorator fixed my radiator the heating no longer makes a racket, which is excellent news and means I have a nice warm house. Hurrah!

And now its time for bed, for I am a very tired girl with a lot to do tomorrow and a night shift to work too.

Rabbit pie

I’m trying to type this with Beryl sat on my lap. When she was a baby bunny she’d sit on my lap and I’d use the computer. And then she’d headbut me until I stroked her head, which stopped me typing. But now she’s a lot lot bigger I need arm extensions to be able to type and contain the bunny.  She’s just done the headbutting thing so I paused for a stoke.

Alice is entertaining Reggie. He’s really difficult to catch when its dark cos he’s so black haired!!  I feel sorry for rabbits in the cold, I hope they’re ok this winter.

Beer and curry

The weekend was good, excellent actually.

Adam was visiting from Edinburgh and it was beerfest. I love beerfest and it was equally ace this year even though I’m non-alcoholic at the moment.  The glass had a handle but was only half a pint and was a little disappointing, but its in the collection nevertheless.

Saturday… It started with a trip to the greasy spoon at the end of my street. Its a nice place and there’s now a history of Levenshulme display! The man who owns it still looks like he should be working in a gentleman’s outfitters.  Then there was a trip to costco. Andrew has a vortex vein in his eye, allegedly.  I hope he’s not sucked into the vortex.  After costco we went into town to touch the iphone. Its actually sexier than I thought it’d be. Maybe I’ll get one oneday….

Then it was time for more beer, firstly in Sinclairs and then Hardy’s. And then onto CURRY!!!! Turnout was excellent (Cass, Joe, Miranda, Steve, Matt, Paula, Patrick, Andy, Emily, Kate, Ant, Adam, Nicola, Andrew and ME!) and all the leftovers were eaten by Ant, who was a very hungry boy as he’d been running up and down a football pitch all day. Afterwards everyone came back to my house to see its new beauty. There was much merriment!

Sunday there was a lot of singing to be done. I had a choir concert, singing Sibelius. It was in Finnish, a language I’d never sung in before.  I’d not sung at the Bridgewater hall for quite a while, it felt really good to be ‘home’ again. I love choir!

New school is going well. Long hours, but its quite satisfying really. Hurrah!

Ok, so here it comes….

I’ve finally got some quiet time and some energy.

Where to begin?………

Highlights of the past couple of weeks.

Miranda and Steve’s wedding

I had nothing to wear as everythign was too big (hurrah!). So I went shopping, with the aid of Paula and Patrick.  I was getting rather disheartened then we went into Wallis.  I found a fab dress and it was in the sale and it was a size 16.  I even got some jewellery in the sale too, so I was really happy.

The wedding was good. It was a barn dance and I did much dancing! And prancing and twirling and bouncing. My legs really hurt the next day. And I took lots of nice photos.

Charlotte and Dan leaving

I still don’t believe its real. They can’t not live in Manchester. But they have gone and they now live in Londontown.  The day after the wedding we went round to their flat to their goodbye party. It was a bit odd but nice to see them.

Nitin Sawheny

That night we went to the Bridgewater Hall to see an Nitin Sawheny concert. I’ve liked Nitin for a few years and saw that he was doing a gig, and we got free tickets (thanks Natalie!).  It was called ‘A Throw of the Dice’ and Nitin Sawhney’s band and the Northern Symphony orchestra performed a soundtrack to a silent film from 1929, written by Nitin.  It was really interesting and really really cool.

I’m sorry I haven’t a clue

I was also lucky enough to have ticket for a recording which took place in the Opera House. It was hilarious. I laughed and laughed and laughed and laughed. If you ever get chance to listen to a recording then do!  It was like being back at glastonbury, without the tents and the mud!

House

My house is beatiful. After three weeks of a nightmare commute and not knowing where any of my stuff is, I’ve moved home.  All I need to do now is hang the curtains in my bedroom.  While away I’ve really missed Reggie and Beryl, but thankfully Alice has looked after them for me. All I need now is the carpet to be laid then it’s for sale! How scary!

Diet

Is kinda going well, I’ve lost 5 stone and am now a size 16, but I’ve stalled a bit the past three weeks. I think changing jobs (again) and the stress of not being at home hasn’t helped. And I’ve missed eating. The plan is to start again full steam on Monday. This week I’m doing an eat week, but being slightly relaxed as its sending me a little mad.  I still want to do it and be thin, but its really tough.

I think that’s about it for now!  Hopefully it’ll not be too long before my next update.
