I’m still standing

Well, I’m still blogging even if very few people still are. And I know there’s some people reading this, but not as many as my previous blog.  I guess there’s quite a lot I don’t talk about, like work and choir.

I’ve just done the last of four Christmas concerts with choir. They were amazing, I had such fun! But I’m rather tired, but very awake now.  I Love Christmas. But I should be packing and stuff, but instead I’m blogging.

What else did I want to talk about, I must put a notebook by the bed, so when I’m lying in bed planning the best blog post in the world (as I so often do) I can notes down, so when I actually get to the comptuer I can remember what I wanted to say!

Apart from singing a LOT this weekend I’ve also caught up with a lot of friends. Charlotte, Dan, Paula, Patrick, Katex2, Antx2, Mirandax2, Joex2, Cass, Steve. I’m really not sure why my weekends have been so full, but I’ve hardly seen any friends for the past six weeks. But this weekend has been a good time to catch up with people, and exchange bits of card and presents!

At the concert this afternoon (we had two concerts today, and four in total. I was very lucky and I had friends attending all concert, which was really nice) Mum, Gordon, Kristie, Andrew, AndrewMum and AndrewDad were in the audience. And the concert went really well, with an excellent programme and lots of loud noises!

Oh yes, Well done to Dr Kristie! She passed her PhD this week. Hurrah for her!

Well I guess I can’t put off the packing any longer. I shall sign off here. Incase you’re interested, I’m working tomorrow and the big day itself, but then I have a week off, with a visit from Rhiannon and time in Shrewsbury. It’ll be ace. I’m looking forward to some sleep as I’m still snotty and have a sore throat and I feel really run down.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all you and your family.

2007 Special

Questions about 2007!

Over the past few days I’ve been thinking about how I’d blog-up the year. I was going to do a month by month review, but then today I saw this, which was doing the rounds last year, so I thought I’d do it again.

1. Overall, have you had a good year?

Yes, there’s been quite a lot of stressful times, but on the whole its been good.

2. What has been your biggest achievement?

Anaesthetic exam passing and job getting.

3. Did you take any exams, Pass?

Yeah, anaesthetic exams, passed. Woop! More pending next year though.

4. Have you had your birthday yet? What did you do?

Yes. 23rd March. I worked a night shift and spent most of it with a patient in A and E and in the back of an ambulance. PAh! But I celebrated with a nice murder mystery dinner party the following weekend.

5. Have you been on Holiday? Gone away anywhere?

Started the year in Cornwall. Went to Maderia with Mum and Debbie in Feb. Glastonbury, Ireland, Wales, Edinburgh, Whitby, Ulverston.

6. Have you had a job?

Yes, and still have one. Anaesthetic doctor. Registrar, maybe!

7. Have you bought anything expensive?

Yes. A Car in Janruary. Spent quite a lot on my house. And will buy another house soon.

8. Made any big decisions?

I think so.

9. Lost a friend or loved one?

Thankfully not. 2005 had far too much of that for my liking.

10. Met anyone amazing?

Probably, but sadly no one is sticking out.

11. Made new friends?

Yes.

12. Moved house?

Not really, but felt like it many times, especially when I was moving stuff between here and Chez Andrew

13. Tried something new?

Some new things at work. A new car, so that’s a yes.

14. Made any enemies?

Hopefully not.

15. What music will you remember from this year?

Verdi’s requiem in St Paul’s Cathedral.

16. What movies have you seen at the cinema this year?

Harry Potter. Hairspray. Those were my two favs.

17. What was your best night out?

A’s birthday. Market Resturant celebration. Glastonbury. One of those three.

18. What was your worst night out?

I got a bit annoyed the last night of Glastonbury.

19. Best Day?

Exam passing, I think.

20. Worst Day?

Not sure.

21. Was summer a gooden’?

It was wet! But mostly good.

22. How many people have you kissed in the year of 2006?

One.

23. Did you fall in love?

I was already in love! Lucky me!

24. Did you have your heart broken?

Things have hurt, but I’m not broken yet!

25. Made any plans for next year?

Sell house. Buy better house.

26. Changed your image?

Yes. Lost almost 6 stone. Got new specs and had a hair-do.

27. Missed anyone?

I’ve actually been quite good at catching up with people this year.

28. Know what you want in the future?

Yes. To be happy, healthy and thin!

29. Regret anything?

No. I don’t do regrets.

30. Who has been your best friend through 2006?

I’m so greedy I have to have lots.

Andrew (the obvious one)

Mum (she’s ace)

King Og. (not seen her for weeks but miss her lots and lots)

Cass (has a strange crazy understanding of how my head works)

Rhiannon (miles away but still oh so special)

I’ve not changed that from last year, but I forgot Fee who is so special to me and I love her lots and lots.

On another note

Something more jolly.

Diet update.

Today is the 5 month anniversary of the space food diet.

I’ve lost over 5 and a half stone.

Today I was wearing size 14 trousers, I started just squeezing into a size 22.

Until this bug I’ve felt amazing! Hurrah!

Still have a little while to go on the spacefood, mind. But before anyone starts I’m not going to go crazy and I’ll stop before I look ill!

And thank you for all the support and putting up with my sobriety and me refusing dinner invites and stuff!

Girl-flu

I was sent home from work poorly today.

I think I’ve got flu.  I feel like death, and have to be horisontal.

I left work and walked to the car park and burst into tears when I saw I had another flat tyre. But after discussion with mother, I drove home and the lovely Andrew will fix it tomorrow.

Girl-flu sucks. Bedtime for me.

Catch up time!

So I promised a good catch up……

Londonvillage

My choir performed Verdi’s requiem in St Paul’s cathedral, London. It was amazing!!!!  The day was very very long (we left Mancyland at 7am and got back at 1am) but so much fun!  Verdi’s requiem is an epic work, with a special large big drum and LOTS of trumpets (*always* a good thing!). And we had special trumpets from the orchestra of the age of enlightenment, who were mega good. I was coach monitor which didn’t run exactly smoothly, as I had more people on my coach than seats, but I managed to sort it out (without leaving any dead bodies on the hard shoulder!).

In the break I ran across the bridge (bouncy bouncy) to go to Tate Modern and had a good time seeing the crack in the floor and some of my favourite pieces (like Matisse’s The Snail).

Two days later

We performed the requiem in Manchester. The Bridgewater hall has better acoustics than St Pauls’ (which had an 8 second echo!), but isn’t as impressive. But it was sold out and I had a good cohort of friends in the audience and was good to perform the piece twice.

Whitby

Andrew and I hired a nice cottage in Whitby for a few days break. I’d never been to Whitby before and I was really pleased. Its lovely and cute and there’s stuff to do. And the coastline is amazing! Thankfully we didn’t bump into Dracula (I checked my and Andrew’s neck closely for any fang signs).  I had Whitby fish and chips which were very nice (but I’m not sure they’re any nice than other fish and chips I’ve had before).

Shrewsbury

I had a whole week off, so for the second part of it I went to Shrewsbury to see Mum.  I was a bit stressed with everything to do (mainly Christmas related), but I managed to get it all done and have some rest too. I’m really looking forward to spending another few days there at Christmas.

Hmmm, there must be more I need to tell you….

House selling. Someone is coming to see it this weekend (while I’m at work). The novelty of having a clean house has worn off. I like the house when its clean, but getting it clean seems a perpetual task, a bit like painting the forth bridge!

Work, involves long hours but is quite enjoyable. I’ve been off poorly today (with an evil cold type bug) but will be back tomorrow as I’m on call.

Christmas Choir. We’ve got four concerts this year!  That’s quite a lot of singing, but I’m really really looking forward to them.

Christmas Tree. With house selling and busy-ness I’ve decided not to have one this year. I’m missing it a little as they look and smell so nice. But I know I’d curse if I had to clean up all the needles.

I’m still addicted to Scrablous on facebook. Its probably not good for me, but it is lots and lots of fun. Its a bit odd playing a game with your flatmate and another with your neighbour, I sometimes wonder that I should get the board out and play properly. But hey ho!

Enough random waffle. Time for dinner!
